California Proficiency Program Insights

- why we believe it’s an option

Traditional schooling isn’t for everyone. With the growing options in California of alternative schools and charter schools, there are more options than ever for education. We believe high school isn’t for everyone, and that the alternative routes are there are to benefit and help students prosper. The California Proficiency Program (CPP) is another route to help students reach their goals. Upon completion of the CPP, students may leave high school with their parent’s permission. Students then have the opportunity to pursue higher education or work without limitation (above 16yr).

- what are the benefits

With the help of the CPP, students are granted the opportunity to start high education earlier or career opportunities. It’s a great option for students who are ready to start higher education, a career, or have exhausted all other means of public educational help but have access to nontraditional help. The CPP does not replace a high school education, but is a great option for students who feel limited by the education they are receiving.

- who can benefit from

For many students it offers an opportunity to focus on other factors of their lives they might be struggling with. A student might feel limited by the educational materials offered to them and be ready to take on higher education. Another student may need the freedom to work full-time. It can offer a student struggling with mental health the opportunity to focus on the care they may need but can’t get while staying in school. For more insight read about graduate stories here.
